Terms of Participation

The terms for using foc-us.uk and taking part in a collective: plain, fair, and true to how the network actually runs.

1. About these terms

These terms are between you and EE Conf Limited, a company registered in England & Wales, which operates the FOCUS ("Foc-us") network of collectives and the foc-us.uk website (the "Site"). By using the Site, registering for a collective, or taking part in a meeting, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or attend a collective.

2. What FOCUS is

FOCUS is a help-first network of local collectives for founders and operators, most of whom run their companies on EOS®. A collective meets in person for ninety minutes, once a month, following the same fixed agenda. FOCUS is a peer network: it is not a substitute for professional, legal, financial, or EOS implementation advice, and nothing shared in a meeting should be treated as such.

3. Free membership

Membership of FOCUS and attendance at collective meetings is free. There is no membership fee and no charge to register. Any venue, hospitality, or other arrangements are made separately by the people hosting a given collective. We may introduce optional paid events (such as a conference) in future; if we do, they will be described clearly and separately at the time.

4. Who can take part

FOCUS is built for the people who actually run the company: founders, operators, leadership-team members, and vetted expert partners. To take part you must:

  • be at least 18 years old;
  • provide accurate information about yourself and your company when you register or apply; and
  • agree to our Code of Conduct, including the Chatham House Rule and the no-pitch rule.

We may decline or withdraw a registration or application at our reasonable discretion, for example where the seat is not a fit for the collective or where our Code of Conduct has not been kept.

5. How registration works

When you register for a collective, you register once and belong to that cohort across its recurring monthly meetings: you do not need to sign up again for each meeting. There is no hard cap on seats; registering saves your place and lets us keep you informed. You can leave a collective, or ask us to remove you, at any time.

6. The no-pitch rule

FOCUS runs on a Non-Transaction Rule: the floor is for genuine help, not for selling. You agree not to use a collective, or contacts made through it, primarily to pitch, prospect, or sell. Breaking this rule may cost you your seat. This is set out in full in our Code of Conduct.

7. Starting or hosting a collective

If you apply to start or host a collective, you agree to run it in line with the FOCUS model (the fixed agenda, the meeting format, and our Code of Conduct) and to represent the network honestly. We provide guidance, templates, marketing materials, and national organisation; hosting a collective does not create an employment, agency, franchise, or partnership relationship between you and EE Conf Limited. We may end a hosting arrangement where the model or Code of Conduct is not kept.

8. Your account

Where the Site gives you an account, you are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you think your account has been used without your permission. You can delete your account at any time; see our Privacy Policy for how we handle deletion, including our 30-day window.

9. Acceptable use of the Site

You agree not to:

  • use the Site in a way that breaks the law or infringes anyone's rights;
  • submit false information, impersonate anyone, or use bots or automated means to register or scrape the Site;
  • attempt to disrupt, probe, or gain unauthorised access to the Site or its infrastructure; or
  • harvest other participants' personal data for your own purposes.

10. Intellectual property

The FOCUS and Foc-us names, branding, site design, and content are owned by EE Conf Limited or its licensors and may not be copied or used without permission. "EOS®" and related marks are the property of their respective owners; FOCUS is an independent peer network and is not endorsed by or affiliated with those owners unless stated. Content you submit remains yours, but you grant us permission to use it as needed to operate the network.

11. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Site available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or withdraw features. We may also update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Liability

FOCUS is offered free and in good faith. To the fullest extent allowed by law, EE Conf Limited is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the Site, attendance at a collective, or reliance on anything shared by other participants. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [[ Andrew to confirm: England & Wales, or Scotland ]], and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
